Rolls Royce Viper 601-22B

This engine is a development of the age old Armstrong siddely Viper that has increased in thrust over 300% since its original conception. The newest engine develops over 4000lbs of thrust and there is even a reheated version, the 633. The 601 model that these are have a 7 stage axial compressor with no inlet guide vanes (This was the first model of viper to feature this) and a twin stage axial flow turbine.

Static thrust is over 3750lbs. The starting, fuel and oil systems are engine driven and totally self contained or "engine furnished" so very little effort is required to get these engines running.

What a find these were. I had been looking for one of these engines for years.....and years. However as they are still in service (mostly now on the African continent due to noise regulations precluding their use in the UK and Europe) they retain a certain value. Most of the components can be reconditioned and returned to service. If the paperwork is lost or the part is scrapped then the part in question, or the entire engine is mutilated prior to disposal to prevent it returning to service through nefarious means. As a result of all of the above they are very difficult to obtain, unlike the lower powered 500 series. So I was delighted due to the very generous efforts of a friend to be able to obtain four examples of this type (now a very nice fifth has been added). I have through the same organisation now located three starter generators to enable me to have at least three runnable examples in my collection.

The most recent engine ( the one for sale) is complete with starter, hydraulic pump, intake duct, jet pipe and propelling nozzle, MVP bag and full log books and paperwork showing around 2300hrs life remaining and that its last overhaul was 2004.
